[Wilbur Cooper Scrapbook, 1911-1964, (bulk 1911-1923) / compiled by M.R. Cooper.].

Scrapbook contains newspaper clippings depicting the professional career of pitcher Wilbur Cooper, primarily of the Pittsburgh Pirates. These clippings include box scores and accounts of games that Cooper pitched along with National League news, standings, illustrations, and information on Cooper's Pirate teammates including Fred Clarke and Honus Wagner. Also included are his game accounts with Marion (Ohio State League) in 1911 and Columbus (American Association) in 1912. Other items of note include: a poem by G.S. Applegarth on Cooper (entitled "That Winning Smile"), a 1914 autographed photograph of Wagner pasted in the book, a 1914 printed National League schedule from the Chicago Cubs, and an article written by Cooper in the New York Times on his meeting with future-president Harding in 1911 when he was an part-owner of the Marion Baseball Club.
